When Catoshi suffered an injury to his paw he began using a typewriter instead of a pen, then when all of his accumulated physical art was lost in a tornado he began creating digital art. He remains true to his former physical medium styles and tries to emulate those techniques with a digital brush pallette so the paintings still feel tactile as prints and still preferring using finger strokes to paint not a digital pen or other software.
